The Science Behind Male Enhancement

Are there any legitimate male enhancement products to increase penis size?

Most people automatically assume "no."

The truth is that the initial, instinctual refusal and skepticism nearly all of us have isn't because doctors have come out and said "it's impossible."

It happens because there is just so much junk out there. So many fake solutions that have been thrown our way by shady companies looking to make a quick buck, all claiming to be the best male enhancement solution out there. They don't care whether their product actually works or not, only if it lets them reach into your wallet and take your money.

You're not wrong to be skeptical.

But you also shouldn't believe that because some of the methods out there don't work that nothing will. There are legitimate studies that show real results in male enlargement.

I invite you to read the research below conducted by the doctors, researchers, and experts who study this for a living and make your own decision. You'll also find some other studies related to the male body and perceptions of size.

1) Non-invasive methods of penile lengthening: fact or fiction?
Marco Oderda and Paolo Gontero, BJUI, 7 May 2010

An article published by Italian researchers sought to answer one question: are there any effective, consistent methods of making the penis larger? If so, what are they?

To this end, they combed through 10 different studies studying penis lengthening from around the world. These studies examined many of the most common methods of enlargement. Here's what they found:

Vacuum erection devices are one of the more popular male enlargement products advertised to enhance size. However, after six months of therapy with these devices, there was no evidence found that any of these devices actually lengthened the penis in any way.

Other studies examined surgery, usually the last resort for many men. The results were stunning. These surgeries often did result in longer sizes. But despite the high costs and highly invasive procedures, the vast majority of these cases demonstrated an unacceptably high rate of medical complications and phallus deformity.

Moreover, many of the men who underwent these procedures were just as unhappy with their bodies AFTER the surgery. It is hypothesized that in such cases the problem is psychological, not physiological.

Of the methods studied, only penis extenders demonstrated consistent, marked improvement in penis size with minimal side effects. One study showed an increase of 1.8 cm after 4 months of extender use, while another demonstrated a gain of 2.3 cm in length. Both studies took place over the course of 6 months.

These results are comparable with surgery, and psychologically, the patients were far happier with both the ease of the exercise and the results.

The researchers conclude: "Based on current evidence, we suggest that penile extenders, not surgery, should be the first-line treatment for men seeking a penile lengthening procedure."

2) Tensile forces stimulate vascular remodeling & epidermal cell
proliferation in living skin

Pietramaggiori, Liu, Scherer, Kaipainen, Mayer, Newalder, Annals of Surgery, Dec 2007

The driving concept behind most legitimate male enlargement prodcuts and methods is Penile Traction Therapy, or PTT.

PTT is a mechanism used both in penile stretching exercises and by penis extender devices.

The theory is that if you constantly and regularly stretch, or apply stress to, the penis, your body reacts to that stress by increasing cellular growth in the afflicted area. This means that stretching in one direction would, over time, lengthen the penis.

One group of researchers demonstrated this theory using lab rats.

Their hypothesis? That mechanical tension applied to living tissue would result in the growth of both blood vessels and the number of parenchymal cells.

In order to test this, ears were shaven off the rats and were maintained in a living state. Mechanical forces were applied, and then the tissue was studied with microcopy and corrosion casting.

The results showed that this tension did result in increased cellular growth, and an increase in the size of the blood vessels. In fact, the blood vessels more than doubled in diameter after just 4 days.

The conclusion: as long as the degree of applied force is controlled, stressing certain tissues will result in increased growth.

These results give weight to PTT methods, and demonstrate why the both the penis extender and penile stretching exercises tend to be more legitimate than other extension methods.

3) Penis size interacts with body shape and height to influence male attractiveness
Mautz, Wong, Peters,  Jenios,, Feb 28, 2013

The importance of penis size in sexual intercourse is often overestimated... mostly by men.

However, research shows that size does matter.

One study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found that women tend to find men with larger phalluses to be more attractive.

The study was conducted amongst of group of 105 women in Australia. These women were shown hundreds of computer-generated images of men. Each image had different combinations of height, girth, and penis size. They were then asked to rate each image on a scale of how sexually attractive they were.

The results?

Men with larger penises were rated to be relatively more attractive, and penis size was shown to be a significant influence on male attractiveness. The most effective size being one 2 standard deviations above the average.

Height and shoulder-to-hip ratio were other potent influences on that scale.

In other words, if you want to be more attractive to women, drink your milk, hit the gym, and figure out a way to make your penis larger.

Though the men reading this are already on the right track.
